Dental Insurance BasicsJust like auto and health insurance plans, dental insurance is just a regular insurance plan. You are required to pay a monthly premium for your dental coverage. The amount of coverage you get is dependent on how much your insurance policy cost. Most dental insurance plans aim at preventive care. This means that dental policies will generally pay 75% to 100% of your x-trays and cleaning. However, as you get into more expensive procedures such as crowns and root canals, the percentage of coverage drops down to 50% and lower. Almost none of the major dental insurance plans cover cosmetic operations such as teeth whitening and or braces. |
